Dr. Emily Cormack brings more than two decades of curatorial and public-art experience. A curator, writer and academic, she has held senior roles including Artistic Director of Melbourne Art Fair, Curator of the TarraWarra Biennial, Curator of Public Art at Monash University and Curator at Gertrude Contemporary, and is currently Head of Exhibitions and Programs at TarraWarra Museum of Art. Emily curated the public art programme for 101 Collins Street, Melbourne, which won the Rider Levett Bucknall Award for Best Public Art Project at the 2024 Property Council of Australia Innovation & Excellence Awards. Her PhD in curatorial practice and longstanding research into how art activates public space underpin Coupland Cormack’s approach to commissioning: rigorous in its thinking, ambitious for artists and attentive to the experience of people encountering art in their everyday lives.
